Each year the VCU Chapter of the Phi Kappa Phi honor society awards up to five students with the Robert G. Davis Undergraduate Writing and Research Award. Student work is nominated for the award by both HONR 200 or UNIV 200 programs. Each award recipient receives a $400 scholarship.
Winners are usually recognized at our Scholarship Ceremony in the spring, but due to the COVID-19 situation the ceremony was cancelled for this year.
We are very pleased to announce that two UNIV 200 students were recipients of the Davis Award this year!
- Matthew Bedard, for “How Does Technology Used for Education and Training in Jail Impact the Recently Incarcerated in Reentry?” (written for Professor Matthew J. Vechinski’s UNIV 200, Spring 2019).
- Jiana Smith, for “Too Personal?: Modern Feminism, Choice Ideology, and Political Disengagement” (written for Professor Jason Corner’s UNIV 200, Fall 2019).
Congratulations to Matthew and Jiana for this wonderful recognition!
