A VCU lifer, who first came here in 1989 as a graduate student, Professor Brookman taught  as an adjunct instructor for the English Department before moving to full-time instruction at the inception of the Focused Inquiry department. Long, long ago he attended Roanoke College as an undergraduate, which is, conveniently enough, located in his hometown, Salem, Virginia.  He has chaired the EXPO committee, is a past member of both Faculty Evaluation and Information Fluency committees, and is currently on the FI/Advising committee. Brookman excels at creating a friendly community within the classroom and gently nudging students into leadership roles in his UNIV 111 and 112 classes.  He is also an indie pop songwriter and recording artist with a small international following. Brookman has at least four album releases and his music can be found all over the Internet. His latest work is two digital-only EPs with Spanish collaborator, Yani Martinelli.
