Christopher Jackson joined the Focused Inquiry faculty in 2010. He has taught UNIV 200 and UNIV 112 for the FI Department, as well as courses in literature for the English Department here at VCU. His training is in literary studies (at the College of William & Mary and the University of Virginia), and his present research interests include British Romanticism, the art of teaching, and the learning opportunities created by multimodal platforms. As a teacher, his central goal is to create environments in which his students can cultivate essential skills and dispositions--in inquiry, reading, thinking, and noticing--that allow them to engage more actively and imaginatively in their learning. A related goal is to help students develop a sense of judgment about which skills are called for in a particular context.
