Christopher Martiniano joined the Department of Focused Inquiry in 2019. Before teaching at VCU, he taught English literature, communications, creativity studies, and composition at Loyola University Chicago, Columbia College Chicago, and Indiana University where he is a Ph.D. candidate in English Literature and Art History. His research and teaching interests include public humanities, the philosophy and history of creativity, and the collision of the verbal, visual, and musical arts in the Liberal Arts classroom. Before undertaking his graduate studies at DePaul University where he earned his M.A. in English Literature, Christopher applied his undergraduate fine arts degree to a creative career in advertising that spanned nearly 20 years with dozens of Fortune-500 clients. If you asked, he would say The Cramps are the best band ever.
