Mary Mullins joined the Focused Inquiry faculty full time in 2010. She has also taught English and Creative Writing at VCU, The College of William & Mary and John Tyler Community College. Mary has a BA in Philosophy and a Masters in Fine Arts/Creative Writing. Prior to becoming a professor, she worked in freelance journalism, non-profit development and corporate and retail sales in healthcare, workers’ compensation and interior design. Based on firsthand experience in these different fields, she regularly talks with students about how the communication and thinking they practice in the classroom can serve them in their larger lives. Ever curious, she is delighted to learn from her students as they research, think and write about the topics that are important to them. In addition to teaching she travels, writes, reads, quilts and loves to putter.
